Grant Kwiecinski, better known by most as his stage name GRiZ, is an American DJ and electronic producer from the suburbs of Detroit, Michigan. He has created an identity for himself by producing funky, electro-soul dubstep, which he describes as future-funk. Not to mention Grant implements his own unique touch by playing the saxophone.
At 27 years old GRiZ has already become a fan favorite act in the electronic community. While most DJs are placed behind a turn table and simply just hitting buttons throughout the night. GRiZ captures the live aspect of a concert which is frankly how any live performance should be. Grant primarily rocks out on his sax, weaving in and out of his funkadelic beats with the vibrant horn sounds from the saxophone.
This past summer Grant made major headlines when he revealed to the world that he is gay. Truly a remarkable thing when an artist as popular as GRiZ can comfortably admit his sexuality to the masses. It takes a lot of courage especially for an artist in today’s society. Coming out could potentially mean losing a percentage of your fanbase. Luckily we have artists as brave as Grant who could careless what the public thinks of his sexuality.
An awesome quote from that article was, “It might not be cool to love Britney Spears, study AP physics or play saxophone but, it’s totally cool to be gay.” Grant clearly shows how little regard he has for what society thinks about him and rather being more concerned with making himself happy. A little bit of advice and guidance we could all take to heart during this tumultuous time in our country. Here’s to GRiZ, as we are looking forward to an incredibly funky performance this Thursday. If you haven’t already purchased your tickets, make sure you grab them HERE. This is a show you definitely do not want to miss!
